No Longer a Victim

The past can be painful, but there are few things as inspiring as seeing someone be the hero of their story, rather than the victim.

Past stories of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse resonate with the population of the Orange County Rescue Mission, but when a client comes to stay at the Village of Hope, it is a time of healing and restoration.

In fact, we are fortunate to partner with organizations like Crime Survivors  that promote individuals who have been victims of crime to overcome these horrendous situations. One of my favorite events is the Day of Hopeful Healing that we host at the Village of Hope where individuals who have been victims of crime are able to release doves into the air to symbolize breaking free from feeling like a victim. This ceremony is extremely symbolic and powerful to witness the courage of the brave men and women who choose to relinquish the past to walk in the potential of their futures.
