Marjorie Alfadly

1927 – 2019

In loving memory of my mother.

She was devoted always to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and an unconditional loving mother to Gregory K. Alfadly.

“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4

Our Heavenly Father has called another angel to his service in Marjorie.

James Whitehead

James became involved with Orange County Rescue Mission as a regular volunteer. When he passed away, his wife asked that donations be made to the Rescue Mission in his memory. There was an outpouring of generosity from James’ family and friends.

After retiring from the airlines as a captain, James went to culinary school at Orange Coast College for a year. Then he learned that the mission needed volunteers to cook. So, starting in May 2012 he planned menus, ordered food, provided recipes and cooked up a storm every Monday night.

James really liked volunteering here, and liked teaching students the skills he had. Students worked alongside him, helping to get the meal ready and learning new skills as they worked. Several students have gone on to get jobs in restaurants. James enjoyed helping them overcome the obstacles they had in their lives.
