On June 27 we launched our Summer to Remember program for elementary children living at Village of Hope. We thank each of you who donated to Summer to Remember. Each day during lunch break you could see the excitement on the kids’ faces. Exploring at museums, touching real life aquatic animals, understanding difficult math problems, performing a skit for parents, swimming…daily this has been what the children have experienced this summer. This is truly a summer to remember for our kids.
Concordia University Irvine is our Summer to Remember partner. Yesterday, Concordia University shared about one of their Summer to Remember experiences. The men’s and women’s soccer teams hosted Village of Hope kids to teach them soccer skills. CUI shared:
Today at the Concordia soccer field, the CUI men’s and women’s soccer teams hosted their Village of Hope Soccer Camp, in association with the Orange County Rescue Mission. The student-athletes worked with, supported, and coached children from the Village of Hope.“Today’s camp with Village of Hope was all about love, Concordia head coach Chris Gould said. “We were able to step into these children’s lives and share the gift of hope and love that we all have received from Jesus. It was great to see a smile on everyone’s face, and to know God was working through us all.” Concordia Eagles Article
Orange County Rescue Mission’s Village of Hope is a place where people come together…teaching soccer skills, improving academics, sharing meals together, giving Jesus’ love and truth, restoring hope. The many people in our community that come alongside a student by volunteering or donating, are all part of the everyday miracles of Orange County Rescue Mission.
