Stephanie was once trapped by paranoia and addiction, with no hope for a way out.
She grew up without a father, and her mother was in and out of prison. Drugs were commonplace in her home until her grandmother took her in.
But even with her grandmother’s positive influence, Stephanie still gave in to the influences around her and used drugs.
She got married and became a mom, and tried to live a different life. But Stephanie experienced constant paranoia. Her deep-rooted fears from the instability of her childhood were hard to shake — they overwhelmed her. In an attempt to shut out her fears, she completely lost touch with reality and shut herself in her room.
“I didn’t cook. I didn’t eat. I couldn’t give my kids affection,” she sadly remembers. “I believed I’d be better off in a grave. And I thought my kids would be better off in a foster home.”
But then YOU gave her the gift of a second chance, and Stephanie’s one last hope. The family came to the Rescue Mission.

Stephanie’s story is powerful proof: Your generosity isn’t just giving money. It’s giving hope, safety, and a future.
Today, Stephanie says, “Without the Rescue Mission, my kids would be in foster care, and I believe I’d be dead. This is a lot more than shelter. It’s the foundation I’m building on. They gave me my hope back.”
We’re so grateful for every gift you give that is pointing our neighbors who feel forgotten to the everlasting hope of Jesus Christ!
