Every night, Jesiree kissed her two boys goodnight at her parents’ house, then climbed into the car with her husband to find somewhere to sleep.
They were homeless, living in their car and struggling with addiction.
“I’d park on the back road behind my parents’ house just to sit and listen to my boys laugh in the backyard,” she says. Jesiree was full of shame but longed to be the strong, healthy mother they needed.
At night, she endured cold, sleepless hours in her husband’s truck. During the day, she ran from him as he hallucinated and tried to hurt her.
The turning point came when her husband went to jail, and Jesiree blacked out behind the wheel and got in an accident. She was pregnant with their third child at the time, and ended up in the ER.
Then, because of YOU, Jesiree was given a hand up. She found out about the Rescue Mission and courageously reached out to us for help. She gave birth to her daughter and was soon reunited with her sons at Village of Hope.
Through counseling, sobriety support, workforce development, and even baseball for her boys, Jesiree received the help she needed to rebuild her family.
Today, she and her kids are living a life she once only prayed for.
“They know Mom on drugs, and Mom now — the mom who sees them for who they are and wants to protect them,” she said. “Being a sober mom feels so nice. I’m made for it.”
