This position will work in collaboration with the Parent Child Enrichment Center Manager/Village of Hope Manager in carrying out the Summer to Remember program. This includes providing assistance to the morning Learning Camp program through Concordia University’s onsite tutoring program, present, facilitate and supervise and teach academic skills and school readiness to children aged preschool through 8th grade. The Summer Counselor will also provide afternoon summer camp assistance to PCE Management staff to carry out afternoon planned activities and coordinated donated services with our community through the Development department. The Summer to Remember program runs from June through August.
Driving Requirements: Required to drive a company vehicle on behalf of company (DOT preferred)
Education Requirements: College degree (Associates or Bachelors) is preferred but a High School Diploma or presently attending college with work experience listed below will be accepted.
Experience: Minimum of six months to 1 year of related work experience and/or training with elementary aged children in a childcare setting of after school day care/summer program/youth groups; OR any combination of education and experience to make an education equivalency.
Essential Job Duties:
- Implement age appropriate programs which stimulate learning and promote school readiness for children preschool through 8th grade
- Promote a healthy, inviting environment.
- Work with the Parent and Child Enrichment Center Manager and Concordia University Facilitator.
- Provide individual program components considering the special needs of each child.
- Treat each child, co-worker, and parent with dignity and respect.
- Implement and model age appropriate disciplinary techniques.
- Monitor the appearance, décor and learning environment of the Tutoring Center.
- Monitor room arrangements to support the goals of the camp.
- Assist in transportation of children/staff in company passenger vans when needed.
- Oversee the safety and security of all children and staff assigned daily.
- Maintain a clean, safe and unobstructed workspace.
- Communicate with manager challenges or difficulties as they arise.
