After decades of suffering under the weight of past abuse, Rozana felt no desire to live. She was malnourished and had just stopped using drugs when she became a resident at Village of Hope. She immediately began receiving physical and mental health care from Hurtt Family Health Clinic. “Many people, like I was, are too broken and discouraged to take the steps to find healthcare. The Hurtt Clinic provided everything I needed to get my son and myself healthy, to live beyond our past of homelessness.”
Rozana continued to thrive with the help of weekly counseling sessions for herself and her son. “Being able to have the extra support from a licensed drug and alcohol therapist gave me the tools to change my thinking. With the professional help I have received, I feel confident I will never abuse my life again.”
With her health restored, Rozana was asked to join the Hurtt Family Health Clinic Board of Directors as a patient representative. Rozana says, “I have learned so much about how the clinic operates and helps the homeless population. The Board works as a team, discussing best practices to provide affordable medications and how to encourage people to go to a clinic [to get the help they need].”
“Giving my opinion and having patient representation on the Board makes such a difference. It has allowed me to create positive changes for my community that I am forever proud of.”
Thanks to Hurtt Family Health Clinic, Rozana now has a healthy lifestyle and a full-time career. “Being at Village of Hope changed my life. God is now present in my life and in the choices I make. I will continue to be a patient and an advocate for Hurtt Family Health Clinic, which provided me a second chance at life, sober and renewed.”
