The Rescue Mission is seeking a Safety and Security Assistant to fill a full time vacancy. This position supports the Safety and Security Supervisor in all activities related to global safety and security, including implementing safety and security programs in compliance with state, federal, safety, health and fire codes within the Rescue Mission and all of its entities and locations.
- Maintain OCRM radio equipment by programming and fixing any mobile radio issues. Also keeping radio equipment in compliance with FCC regulations.
- Assist Supervisor with OSHA and DOT checklists, documentation and administrative follow up on computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Log and follow up on Incident and Inspection Reports to make sure any safety hazards are fixed and that the facility stays up to code
- Assists with coordinating and maintaining a comprehensive emergency disaster preparedness plan for all Rescue Mission Sites
- Monitor CCTV surveillance cameras for all facilities, at the request of management provide specific video segments for students, and troubleshoot any issues
- Work with Case Management team to resolve student security concerns by conducting interviews, room searches, reviewing video and performing drug and alcohol screenings.
- Create Employee ID cards for all facilities and providing/maintaining door access for employees to appropriate areas. Troubleshoot any issues with the Card Access system
- Maintain emergency facilities, equipment, communication systems and order Security and Safety supplies
- Work on parking and security for events at VOH
- Back up Supervisor when scheduled as on-call duty during afterhours/weekends/holidays as emergencies occur at the Rescue Mission or any of its entities.
- A personal relationship with Jesus, good working knowledge of the Bible and a completed OC Rescue Mission employment application with the signed acknowledgment of the Statement of Faith.
- Associates degree with a minimum of 3 years working in Safety and Security. A combination of more related work experience in related field and a high school diploma to make an education equivalency may be considered.
- Knowledge of basic safety, security and de-escalation practices is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic technical and digital security systems and equipment. How it works and how to basic repair if necessary.
- Knowledge of basic safety and security practices is required.
- Knowledge of basic OSHA safety and security laws and policies is preferred.
- Ability to manage projects effectively with efficiency and achieving focused results and meet deadlines given.
- A pleasant personality with Christ-centered behavior (i.e., treating people with dignity, respect, compassion, and integrity at all times) to people you are speaking to on the telephone, visitors, and company personnel.
- Knowledge and experience working with individuals in crisis with the ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information.
- The ability to act and think promptly and professionally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and administrative skills.
- Self-motivated and flexible with the ability to work as a member of a team.
- Hands-on PC compatible computer knowledge with proficiency in typing, Microsoft Office Windows programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer). Administrative work in documenting policies, procedures and practices in computer programs such as Word, Excel and Outlook is essential to the position.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our insurance carrier, less than 2 DMV points on driving record).
