The Orange County Rescue Mission program is designed to model an academic or university setting. Once each and every client progresses through the admissions process, they are titled a “student.” Every student begins as a freshman where they are assigned to a designated case manager who appoints them to a beneficial area of responsibility within the Rescue Mission’s campus of operation. This assigned responsibility could entail administrative work, grounds keeping, warehouse managing, maintenance work, kitchen prep, and so on. Where each adult fulfills a quota of hours on the Rescue Mission’s campus, they are not only gaining valuable life skills, they also are able to add work to their resume when it comes time to search for employment again, not to mention contributing to the success of their temporary home. This program is designed to incorporate intentionality behind each and every task so that every student is empowered for success for the rest of their life.
