Education and Employment
In October 2014, the Success Center implemented a pilot academic program to help residents obtain their high school diploma in partnership with the Tustin Adult School. Residents earn their high school diploma by completing missing high school credits. Coursework for residents is provided through the Success Center every two weeks and completed on campus. The Success Center schedules tutors throughout the week and provide a “study-hall” setting two nights a week. Coursework is returned to the Tustin Adult School where it is evaluated. The High School Diploma program is now being implemented at the RR Ranch and our Corona Norco campus.
VOH offers Workforce Education during the first 6-9 months. Residents are assigned internships within various departments which help build work skills while providing a period of stability and consistency. Once completed, residents begin the process of defining their vocational or educational goals by working with staff at the on-campus Sunwest Bank Success Center. Students are assessed for opportunity to further their education and training through short-term certificated programs that lead to a career path. Such opportunities may include, drug & alcohol studies, CNC machining, billing & coding, information & technology, various healthcare occupations and more. Services include career counseling, high school diploma program in partnership with the Tustin Adult School, job readiness workshops, credit repair and household budget development and monitoring.
