June Employee of the Month-

June 3, 2014

The work we do at the Orange County Rescue Mission requires unique individuals to answer the call and carry out the cause of serving the least, the last and the lost. The miracles that we get to witness in the lives of broken men, women and children are no shortage of evidence that God is at work here. The exceptional element is that although this is God’s work, He chooses to use all of us ordinary and even unqualified people to carry out these stories on a daily basis. In light of celebrating our successes, we also hope to celebrate the men and women who selflessly serve on the Orange County Rescue Mission’s staff to make the successes possible.

This month we are delighted to highlight OCRM’s Special Events & Volunteer Manager, Sarah Bucek, as our Employee of the Month.

Employee of the month: Sarah Bucek

One of OCRM’s key core values is “Excellence in everything we do.” When you attend one of Sarah’s events, you know you are in for a treat. Her attention to detail, high expectations, and ability to work under pressure are the magic ingredients to the world class activities we enjoy with our students, volunteers, donors and staff.

A little more about Sarah:

Sarah and Andrew will celebrate their 3rd Anniversary in July.

Life Before the Mission

Before the Mission, I graduated from Biola in 2011 with a degree in Public Relations.
I worked for Easter Seals as an Event Planner and at Biola as an Administrative Assistant.
I found out about the position at the Rescue Mission through Jewel who met me when I worked with her husband at Easter Seals.

About working for OCRM
I love the diversity of the events I get to plan. I get to work with donors, volunteers, students. I love working with staff and students. We have a lot of fun, but we all work hard and we are all working for the Lord so that makes it so much better.

I’ve really enjoyed praying with staff in the morning and seeing how God has been working in our mission.

What Does a Bad Day Look Like?
Blisters from being on my feet long hours on a crazy, busy day.

For What are You Most Proud?
Working for Ryan, the best boss in the entire world. I’m not even lying.

What Do you Do Outside of Work?

I like decorating and remodeling our house and spending date nights with my hubby.

What is Your Favorite Scripture?
Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Congratulations to Sarah! We are so thankful for her heart and dedication to serving the love of Jesus Christ to everyone she meets.
