Human Resources Assistant

The Orange County Rescue Mission is a Faith based organization to assist the homeless and needy of Orange County, California.

Main Job Function and Purpose:
Assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources functions and duties.  The HR Assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas:  departmental development, HRIS, employee relations, benefits, compensation, organization development, and employment.  The HR Assistant contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. The HR Assistant helps with the implementation of services, policies, and programs through HR Staff; reports to the HR Manager, and assists company managers with HR issues.
Requirements
  1. Christ-centered behavior, i.e., treating people with dignity, respect, compassion and integrity at all times.
  2. Associates degree and/or equivalent experience through completion of human resources and office procedures coursework combined with administrative experience.
  3. Experience with attention to detail and high-level accuracy.
  4. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  5. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering HRIS information.
  6. Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate.
  7. Experience with database entry, reporting and maintenance.
  8. Strong working knowledge of basic four-function math, fractions and decimals.
  9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  10. Ability to address conflict with staff, as well as students, and be able to intercede and find reasonable solutions in order to maintain harmonious relations.
  11. Hands-on PC compatible computer knowledge, understanding and skill.
  12. Proficiency with Windows operating system, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook E-mail and Internet Usage.
  13. Demonstrated “detailed approach” to administration and organization.
  14. Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate.
  15. Experience with database entry, reporting, and maintenance.
  16. Basic typing (40 wpm).
  17. A pleasant personality displayed to people on the telephone, volunteers, visitors, staff and students.
  18. Self-motivated and adaptable to change and urgent request.
  19. Maintains an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our insurance carrier, less than 2 DMV points on driving record).
  20. Regular involvement in a local Bible-believing church.
  21. Signed acknowledgement of the OCRM Statement of Faith.
  22. Willingness to work non-traditional hours including weekends and evenings.
  23. Regular timely attendance.
Summary
  1. Performance management and improvement tracking systems, employee orientation and employee development recordkeeping.
  2. Assisting with employee relations.
  3. Employee Services.
  4. Maintaining employee files and the HR filing system.
  5. Assisting with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR office.
  6. Assisting with the coverage of breaks at the Front Desk.
