We are still collecting homemade face masks during this time!
Orange County Rescue Mission is 100% operational across all 12 of our campuses, providing shelter and services to the homeless men, women, children, and veterans under our care during this pandemic. We are deeply encouraged by your support for those we serve. Per California Department of Public Health’s recent guidelines, we are still in need of homemade face masks to support our Village of Hope community.
This is a FUN way you can help keep our community safe! Here are TWO things you can do:
- Sew face masks and donate them to Orange County Rescue Mission.
- Share this need with your sewing or quilting friends by sharing this website link.
Your contribution, however many you make, will help us “flatten the curve”!
All you need is:
Fabric is currently available at your local Walmart and JOANN stores.
Basics
- Thread and sewing machine
- Scissors
- Small clips or pins
Mask
- approximately 3/4 yard of cotton fabric (consider tightly-woven cotton fabric – pattern and color your choice!)
- Elastic or hair ties
- If elastic or hair ties are not available, see the instructions below for making a mask with fabric ties or bias tape.
For those who do not sew, we have included instructions on how to make a face mask without sewing.
