Supporting Single Moms

SHARE

Being a single parent is no simple feat.

Yet unfortunately, life’s circumstances have introduced many parents to this reality.

Many children at the Rescue Mission are brought up within single parent homes and several men and women in our program know both the roles of mom and dad.

Where the challenges of a single parent are exceptionally difficult, the Orange County Rescue Mission, in conjunction with Air 1 Radio, has sought to encourage and assist parents in these circumstances to empower them in their critical roles to their children.

One specific demonstration was the Air 1 Radio Single Mom event where the Rescue Mission not only distributed food boxes to mom’s in need, but also was able to send some of our mothers to attend.

The event included hair styling, massages, paraffin wax treatments, fitness classes, family portraits, prayer and food.

It was an honor to be a part of this event, especially as we very quickly discovered many mothers had attended simply because of their need for food to feed their families.

Being a single parent is not the ideal family model, but where moms and dads are left to navigate the journey of parenthood and family alone, we should lift them up in prayer and support in their efforts where we are able.
