I have shared recently a little bit about our new program, Strong Beginnings, which we launched last year to provide emergency shelter and additional support services to female victims of human trafficking in Orange County. Recently, the Orange County Register ran an article highlighting our efforts as well as the tremendous need for this type of support in Orange County, where the issue of human trafficking continues to grow.
This article also reports recent County findings based on statistics from the Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) unit of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, which I feel can help to shed some light on why we making strides to provide services and support in this specific area. Please read on for more information about Strong Beginnings and human trafficking in Orange County.
