Hello Volunteers! We greatly appreciate the fact that our volunteers partner together with us to complete our mission statement which is to minister the love of Jesus to the least, the last, and the lost of Orange County through the provision of assistance in the areas of guidance, counseling, education, job training, shelter, food, clothing, and health care. Please look over the opportunities listed below to see where you might best serve. Thank you! Urgent Need for Food Drives! Organize a food drive at your church, office, school or neighborhood to collect non-perishable food for the homeless. Food Drive Kits are available to assist you in planning, coordination and publicity. They can be downloaded from our website or mailed. We need to distribute more than 7 tons of food every month!. Community Outreach Strong Beginnings Student Intern Therapist: Concurrent college/university enrollment in an accredited program leading to MFT/LCSW BBS licensure: Masters Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field, or equivalent experience preferred. Candidates will provide mental health services, (intake, assessment, progress notes, crisis intervention, diagnosis, treatment/counseling, treatment planning) for homeless families, individuals, couples and children. Support Office, Tustin Top Warehouse Projects: Won’t you put your hands on them as Jesus did? “And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.” While we are not able to personally touch every hurting man, woman, and child in Orange County, using our hands, we can put the hands of Jesus Christ upon their lives by helping with a warehouse sort. We are currently seeking volunteer groups for sorting food, clothing, toys, hygiene kits, and compiling food boxes. This is an event specific opportunity with flexible days and hours. Office Support: Assist with various projects in the Support & Outreach Offices such as typing, filing, mailings and answering phones. Extra help is especially needed during the holiday season. Volunteers who are available anytime Monday-Friday, between 9am and 5pm can either commit to a scheduled time slot, or can be placed on a list and notified when extra help is most needed. Professional demeanor and telephone etiquette is desired. Computer skills welcomed but will train for specific jobs. Volunteers will have the opportunity to show the love of Jesus Christ through direct and indirect telephone interaction with prospective clients. Office of the President Event Support: Help the Assistant to the President coordinate special events to include: securing venues, working with caterers, and processing and tracking invitation mailings. You will be responsible for helping to see the event through to completion. Prospects should possess good office etiquette and the ability to communicate effectively. Volunteers will be placed on a list and contacted as special events arise. This is a great opportunity to put your party planning skills to work! Active seniors are welcome. The House of Hope for Homeless Women & Children Top Meal Service: Assist in the preparation, serving, and clean up of lunch from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, or dinner from 3:30 pm to 7 pm. Groups of 2-10 are needed Monday through Friday. Saturday is a closed opportunity. Some Sundays are available. Must call for availability. You must be 18 years old in order to serve without a chaperone. Young adults 13-17 must be accompanied by an adult. Two types of service are available, either the volunteer group can decide to cook the food that is already at the house, or the group can decide to provide a meal to serve.
Children’s Tutor: The Children’s Tutor provides supervision, instruction in reading, writing and arithmetic, and assists children with various homework assignments as needed, while encouraging children to exercise good study habits and ministering the love of Jesus Christ. This service reports to the House of Hope Facilities Manager or House of Hope Chaplain on duty. Vacation Bible School: Church groups are needed who would be willing to select a week during summer vacation, Christmas vacation, or Easter break, to organize and run a VBS type event for the children. Time is flexible. There are several weeks to choose from during the summer, aside from summer school, so there are lots of opportunities! VBS will report to the Parenting and Child Development Supervisor at the House of Hope. Village of Hope, Tustin Lawn Maintenance: The Village is looking for someone to mow the lawn twice per month, during work hours. OCRM Healthcare Services: The clinic at the Village of Hope needs someone to answer phones and take appointments. A six-month commitment is required, bilingual (Spanish/English). Licensed Electricians, Plumbers & Carpenters: There is an immediate need for both individuals and companies who can assist us with ongoing projects. This is a great way to help move The Village of Hope along to completion. Once completed, the Village will provide transitional housing for 192 homeless men, women and children. Maintenance & Clean-up: Various projects are available at our up-and-coming Village of Hope. This is a great opportunity for school, business, community and church groups of 10 or more to help move The Village along to completion. Times and days for these projects will vary and can be coordinated through the Volunteer Manager. All volunteers must be over the age of 13. Plan on getting dirty. Painting Projects Great team building activity! We are in need of groups and individuals to help with painting projects at our various facilities. This can include: cleaning, prepping, painting and clean-up. The commitment can be one-time only or we can place you and/or your group on a list and contact you as these projects become available. Because we have a very limited maintenance staff, this help is invaluable! Mustard Seed Ranch Volunteer Workdays Top We hope you will take the opportunity to come to Mustard Seed Ranch and join with us in one of our monthly Volunteer Workdays where you can contribute to the healing of youth and young adults through hands on involvement. As you can imagine there are always ongoing projects and maintenance items that need attention. This is a wonderful way for you and you family, friends, and business associates to practically contribute to touching lives that have had a history of abuse and neglect. What better way to reach out than to lend a helping hand. Whether you have a skilled trade or not we can use your help. The dates for our upcoming Volunteer Workdays are as follows: 4/26, 5/31, 6/28, 7/26, 8/30, 9/27, 10/25 and 12/6. To volunteer for a workday or for other opportunities, contact Brandi Schlechter by e-mail or phone her at (714) 247-4326. |
