Purpose

The Village of Hope Development Department's purpose is to coordinate planning, resources and development of the Village of Hope facility and programs, with the Director of the Village of Hope working closely with the Vice President of Programs.

Programs and Services

The Village of Hope Development Department provides the following five core services:

Project Design and Planning

Two architectural firms are coordinating project design. Axcess Architects is coordinating and designing the renovation of the two barracks buildings on the project, while Gensler Architects is designing the construction of the new warehouse, administrative offices, dining facility and the chapel/auditorium. Construction is being coordinated through three Builder Captains: Oltmans Construction Company, Lennar Communities and William Lyon Homes. All of the above-named companies are donating their time and services to this project.

Project Approvals and Permits

The City of Tustin Building and Planning Department is working closely with the architects and project manager to move the Village of Hope plans and permits through the intricate system of checks and balances needed for approval and permit distribution. The City of Tustin is waiving most fees normally required for a project of this magnitude.

Project Communication Coordination

The Orange County Rescue Mission's Village of Hope Project Manager is handling project communication and coordination. This involves follow-up with architectural firms, city planners and political advocates. Meetings with the Development Team occur every two weeks, and timelines and project status reports are updated continuously.

Community Awareness

The support of the community in the Village of Hope project is vital. Coverage in the local and county papers, speaking opportunities at Chamber meetings, service clubs and local churches all help to keep the public aware of the progress and instill a desire for participation. This also helps to eliminate any negative biased opinions and fears. A project center and sample residential unit are open on the base and tours are available upon request.

Program Development

The Village of Hope will be a facility with innovative and comprehensive programs developed to meet the needs of the residents of the project. Orange County Rescue Mission's Director of Residential Programs has been focusing on the program's outcomes, goals and indicators for the Village of Hope facility.
