Orange County Rescue Mission’s Men’s New Life Clients: The Men’s & Emergency Shelter has two core client populations. The first and primary are homeless men between the ages of 18 and 65. This resident population comes from backgrounds that include: substance abuse, criminal activity, educational failure, medical issues, probation, and incarceration. These men are typically referred by the Operation Hope Department, local law enforcement agencies, resource hotlines 2-1-1 (InfoLINK Orange County), churches, and the court system.

Profile of Orange County Rescue Mission’s Emergency Shelter Clients: The second homeless group of clients are homeless men living on the streets seeking showers, clothing and food. These men tend to be between the ages of 18 and 50. These groups of homeless clients and residents are in need of various support services that include: job training, case management, substance abuse treatment, mental health care assessment and treatment, housing assistance and placement, and life skills training.

New Life Vision: The Vision of the Men’s New Life and Emergency Shelter Department is to address the varied needs of the people and to minister God’s Word showing them that God loves them. Our vision includes providing a safe living environment for the Least, the Last and the Lost living on the streets of Orange County. We provide food, clothing, shelter and spiritual counseling. We do this in service to our Lord Jesus Christ as we are instructed to in Isaiah 58.

Programs and Ministry: The Men’s Emergency Shelter Program provides these services in addition to the New Life Program.

  • Shower Program: We offer showers once a day to homeless women, under the supervision of a female staff member. We have an average of 35-40 women on a weekly basis who come to the Mission to receive showers, counseling, food, and clothing. The Facility Manager oversees the men’s shower program. The men’s showers are offered twice daily, once in the morning and evening, to the resident guest. We have an average of one hundred 100 showers daily. The men and women receive clean clothing and hygiene items.
  • Meal Program: The Men’s Shelter provides three meals daily to all who come through the doors of the Mission. We serve an average 4,800 meals per month. We also provide fifty sack lunches a month for the Operation Hope Department.
  • Shelter Program: The Men’s Shelter provides homeless men a fourteen-night stay which averages out to 1200 bed nights per month, at forty beds a night, seven days a week. The purpose of the Santa Ana facility is to provide a temporary safe environment for the Least, Last and Lost of Orange County. It is primarily an emergency shelter that offers the public a place to find food, clothing, shelter, spiritual counseling, financial assistance and hope for a new beginning.
  • Chapel Service Program: The Men’s Shelter provides chapel services three times a day conducted by staff and volunteers. The focus of the services is evangelical in nature with the goal of bringing people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. The Men’s Shelter offers Sunday Services to men, women, and children; conducted by the Men’s Recovery Program and Men’s Shelter Facility Manager. The purpose of this ministry is to provide a forum whereby God’s word is shared to disenfranchised people who might feel alienated from a “traditional” church setting, and to bring people to an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Holiday Men’s Shelter Events: The Men’s Shelter provides Holiday services three times a year: Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The average attendance at each event is approximately 400 people (men, woman, children and volunteers). We provide worship and praise to the Lord. With the help of volunteers, we serve traditional meals to all that attend. The average combined number of meals served annually during these events is 12,000.
  • Medical Program: The Men’s Shelter provides medical attention to residents in need. The MRV, is staffed by a licensed Doctor and Registered Nurse from our Outreach Department. They conduct a clinic every Wednesday of the year. They also offer assistance in filling prescriptions.
  • Alumni Program: On a quarterly basis, graduates and former New Life members meet for accountability and mentoring.
