House of Hope Residents: The core client population for the House of Hope facility can be described as homeless or poverty-stricken women with children. These women range in age from 19 to 46, and their children range in age from conception to 12 years old.

This adult female client population comes from backgrounds that include: substance abuse, credit issues, domestic abuse issues, educational failure, medical issues, probation, and incarceration. These women are typically referred by the Operation Hope Department, local law enforcement agencies, resource hotlines 2-1-1 (InfoLINK Orange County), churches, domestic abuse shelters, the court system and social services.

A second group enters the House of Hope Program without their children currently (typically due to the children being in out-of-home care through the County of Orange). In this second group, we prioritize reunification between the mother and her children.

Both of these groups of homeless female clients are in need of various support services that include: job training, case management, substance abuse treatment, parenting training, anger management training, mental health care assessment and treatment, housing assistance and placement, and life skills training. Most importantly, as mentioned earlier, this group of homeless tends to lack a sense of hope and is in great need of filling the spiritual hole in their lives.

Department Vision

It is the vision of the House of Hope to minister the love of Jesus Christ to women and children who find themselves in compromising situations, and to provide assistance in the areas of guidance, counseling, shelter, food, clothing, and health care.

Programs and Ministry:

The House of Hope provides these services in addition to the New Life Program.

  • Holiday Events: The House of Hope holds private Holiday events throughout the year. In May, for Mother’s Day, several companies/stores in the Main Place Mall donate their goods/services to our House of Hope residents. It lets the mothers have a fun outing where they’re able to use store credit to purchase things, get free haircuts and styles, and eat a wonderful lunch. This gives them a feeling of belonging and a sense of support to their community. On Christmas the residents are blessed with the gift of a beautiful Christmas tree. The OCRM Board of Directors and President join the families at a tree trimming party. The women and children are also showered with gifts each Christmas. They open their gifts on Christmas Eve.
  • Family Reunification: The House of Hope staff works with each resident on a case by case basis to reunite families.
  • Medical Program: The House of Hope provides medical attention to each resident in need. These services are donated through the help of a local doctor.
  • Child Development Center: Each House of Hope resident receives training in the Active Christian Parenting curriculum and additional one on one time with the Parenting and Child Development Supervisor, who specifically focuses on individual issues. The Parenting and Child Development Supervisor also provides training for the children in areas such as expressing themselves, proper classroom behavior and interaction with other children.
