CASA de SALUD (Home for Health) — On June 14th, 2004 the Orange County Rescue Mission transitioned the CASA de SALUD Family Health Clinic into Orange County Rescue Mission Health Care Services, Inc.
CASA de SALUD and the Orange County Rescue Mission would like to thank the following transition partners: Orange County Supervisor Charles Smith, Hoag Hospital—Community Medicine, Orange County Health Care Agency, Irvine Health Foundation, Children  and Families Commission of Orange County, The Orange County Coalition of Community Clinics, The HealthCare Foundation for Orange County, and the many corporate and individual supporters of the clinic.
CASA de SALUD Family Health Clinic was founded in the Spring of 2000 as a compassionate response to a community in a health care crisis. The clinic offers primary health care services and specializes in treating chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, gastrointestinal disorders, arthritis, asthma and obesity. All of the patients seen at CASA de SALUD are uninsured, 99.8% live at or below the federal poverty level. CASA’s service area covers the central region of the county. However, 60% of the clinic’s clientele live in Santa Ana, one of the most impoverished and densely populated areas in Southern California, and the third most dense in the United States.
 CASA de SALUD has become an integral part of the network of community clinics over the past four years. Last year alone there were 8,101 patient encounters to a total of 2,259 unduplicated patients. The clinic continues to look for ways to meet the many needs of the community and this past year was awarded funding to provide monthly breast cancer screenings to the community. Charges for health care services are on a sliding schedule and average $30 per visit.
