Gifts in Kind are those donations other than financial which could benefit a homeless person or family in the their struggle to better their living situation. They include, but are not limited to, the following areas of need:

Gift Cards

Donating the following gift cards is an excellent way to provide for the needs of homeless families while allowing some spending flexibility:

  • Grocery stores
  • Department stores (Walmart, Target, etc.)
  • Fast food (McDonald's, etc.)
  • Gas stations

Food

Food continues to be the most consistent need we have. Regardless of the living status of a homeless individual or family, the need for food is ever-present. Food drives are a great way to maximize your efforts in feeding the hungry.

For perishable food donations, please call (714) 247-4300.

Clothing

We have need of new women’s and children’s clothing for our clients living in the House of Hope. Boys and girl’s underwear, socks and light-weight jackets are also a large need. Our emergency Men’s Shelter gives out clothing every day to the men and women who are on the streets. Specifically needed are white cotton socks for the Men’s Shelter, white T-shirts, sizes L, XL and XXL, and cotton briefs, sizes 36-42. We always need denim jeans (which provide durable wear for those living on the streets) and new shoes to give to the homeless.

Hygiene/Medical Supplies

With two Mobile Medical Clinics, we are in constant need of hygiene kits to hand out to the men, women and children we serve. Hygiene kits consist of soap, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste/toothbrush, razor, shaving cream and suntan lotion. Optional items are: Band-Aids, feminine hygiene products, and lip balm.

Along with hygiene kits we also give out free medicine to anyone who needs it! Medications needed on a consistent basis are: Robitussin DM, children’s Tylenol, ibuprofen, lice shampoo, allergy medication and cough drops.

Professional Services

To help serve those in need, we rely on volunteers who are willing to put their specialized gifts to work for the homeless. Our many outreaches afford a variety of opportunities for service on a weekly basis:

  • CASA de SALUD — this fixed medical clinic in Santa Ana is in need of volunteer medical professionals to help meet the needs of the thousands of patients seen annually.
  • The Village of Hope — this cutting-edge transitional living facility, poised to open soon, is in need of a variety of GIK items. Please call the number below.

All gift-in-kind items may be dropped off at our donation warehouse between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday:

One Hope Drive, Tustin, CA 92782 (see map)
