At the Orange County Rescue Mission, we often attempt to bring you stories of those we've helped so that you can see what your donations are producing. We gather the facts, take a photograph, and do our best to relate to you the hope that is inspired in the hearts of people through your gifts.

But some stories are best told by the one whose life has been so dramatically affected by the compassion of others. This is such a story...

Dear Ray Green and Orange County Rescue Mission,

I've been in my apartment for over six months now, doing well. Off and on over five years, I've been on the streets, motel to motel, and spent some time at the Mission as a consumer. I've made some changes and grown up some, too. But if not for overwhelming generosity from Ray Green/Orange County Rescue Mission and God, I would still be wandering and grasping for hope.

I'm still struggling with inner demons, but overcoming them day by day “in the comfort of my home,” in hindsight very thankful for my house, refurbishings, gift certificates, over eighteen hundred dollars in security deposits, and Mr. Green's trust and sincere concern for my well being.

Besides having everything provided for me, I have two loving cats, too. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me another chance.
